Brazilian Blowout Smoothing in Raleigh

Frizz gone and blow-dry time cut for months, with your curl relaxed rather than erased.

North Carolina summers are the argument for this service. You can spend forty minutes on a blow-dry, walk to the car, and arrive somewhere with completely different hair. A Brazilian Blowout is what stops that.

It is not a relaxer and it is not a Japanese straightener. It does not break the bonds in your hair and it will not leave you with a poker-straight line growing out. It coats and seals the cuticle, which takes the frizz out entirely and loosens the curl — so wavy hair stays wavy, just smooth and controlled.

The practical effect most people notice is time. Blow-dries that took forty minutes take fifteen, and air-drying becomes an actual option.

Who this is for

Anyone fighting humidity, frizz, or a blow-dry that takes too long. It works across curl types and it is well suited to coloured hair. If you want your curl gone entirely rather than relaxed, this is not that service — and Maria will tell you so rather than taking the booking.

What goes into it

The craft behind the price.

Clarifying first

Hair is washed with a clarifying shampoo to strip product build-up, because the treatment cannot bond to a coated cuticle.

Applying the solution

Worked through section by section, in a well-ventilated room, with the amount adjusted to your density.

Sealing with heat

Blown out and then flat-ironed in fine sections. The heat is what seals the solution into the cuticle, and it is the step that determines how long the result lasts.

Finishing

Rinsed, treated with a masque and blown out so you leave with the finished result.

Her process

What happens in the chair.

Two to three hours depending on length and how thick your hair is.

  1. 01

    Assessment

Maria looks at your curl pattern, your condition and any colour history, and tells you what the treatment will realistically do to your hair.

  2. 02

    Clarify

A deep clarifying wash to strip build-up so the solution can bond.

  3. 03

    Apply

The solution is worked through section by section.

  4. 04

    Seal

Blow-dried and flat-ironed in fine sections to lock the treatment into the cuticle.

  5. 05

    Rinse and finish

Rinsed, masqued and blown out. No waiting period — you can wash it the same day.

Pricing

What it costs.

Brazilian Blowout smoothing treatmentPriced by length and density
$275 to $375

Maria quotes every price in the chair once she has seen and felt your hair. Length, density and condition all move the number, and she would rather be accurate than cheap over the phone.

How to work with her

Getting started.

  1. 01Call or text the studio and describe your hair — curl pattern, length, and what it does in humidity.
  2. 02Book ahead of summer rather than in the middle of it.
  3. 03Come with clean, product-free hair if you can.
  4. 04Plan on a long appointment.
  5. 05Switch to a sulphate-free shampoo before your appointment, because you will need it afterwards.

Aftercare

Making it last.

  • Sulphate-free shampoo only. Sulphates strip the treatment and cut its life short.
  • Avoid salt water and heavy chlorine exposure where you can.
  • You can wash it the same day — this treatment has no waiting period.
  • Expect three to four months, longer if you wash less often.
  • Book colour before or with the treatment, not straight after.

Questions

Smoothing, answered.

  • At Maria's studio it runs $275 to $375, priced by your length and density. She quotes yours once she has seen your hair.

  • Typically three to four months. How often you wash and whether you use sulphate-free shampoo make the biggest difference — sulphates will cut it short.

  • No, and that is the point. It removes frizz and loosens the curl rather than eliminating it. Wavy hair stays wavy but smooth and controlled. If you want dead-straight hair this is not the right service.

  • Yes, the same day. Brazilian Blowout does not have the waiting period that some keratin treatments do.

  • Yes — it is commonly done on coloured hair and often improves how the colour looks by sealing the cuticle. Timing matters, so book your colour before or alongside the treatment rather than immediately after.

  • Two to three hours depending on length and density.
